She feeds Carl quickly. The room is dark but she does not turn on a light. She carries him into the bedroom, undresses him, puts him into his crib for the night.
She strips completely, leaving her clothes where they fall. She puts on her white robe and stretches out on the bed.
Carl makes noise from his crib. He cries for attention. Ellen doesn't move or look in his direction. The room falls to darkness within a half hour. Soon after, Carl quiets.
